Withdrawing your child from Religious Education
At Dedham Church of England Primary School, we very much value children's experience from their Religious Education lessons. With a strong foundation in Religious Education, children are able to understand and respect differences from an informed and well-explored place, enabling them to flourish in different social circumstances and develop a deeper understanding of the world. By learning through the different disciplines of Theology, Philosophy and Human and Social Sciences, children are able to fully understand what people believe and why, how this affects human behaviour and develop the ability to think deeply about important concepts in life. Religious Education is not teaching children to be religious; it is facilitating children in becoming young theologians, philosophers and human and social scientisits, lighting the way for them to explore these areas in the next steps of their education. We see Religious Education as an essential part of the journey in becoming a light the world, for the benefit of self and for the benefit of others.
